The Emancipation Proclamation
Answer by Valentine
The Emancipation Proclamation. He wrote it on his desk in the Lincoln Bedroom in the White House, and legend has it his ghost still haunts that room. Cool, huh?
Answer by Mac
The Emancipation Proclamation, but it is important to know that this only freed the slaves in the states engaged in armed conflict with the Union. The Emancipation Proclamation did not free slaves in the border states, those still in the union, which means in reality it didn’t free anyone. The 13th Amendment passed in 1865 completely outlaws slavery.

Check the Antiques Roadshow website – they had one on there recently. If it’s an authentic signature it’s worth a lot. There are a lot of fakes out there, so beware. The Stanton one will up the value some as well.

If it can be authenticated by a forensic professional who deals in signatures – but that alone will be a costly item, because many of the experts make a living by their identifications.

what document signed by president abraham lincoln guaranteed slaves the right to be free?
Answer by Mini Midas
Emancipation Proclamation
Incidentally Lincoln was not a serious abolitionist. He would’ve done just about anything to keep the union together.
Answer by McCain ’08
the affirmitive action act.
Answer by avail_skillz
The 1st Emancipation Proclamation September 22, 1862
wasn’t very successful and neither was the 2nd one on January 1, 1863.
The 13th Amendment eradicated slavery on December 18, 1865.
But credit for ending slavery is usually given to the Emancipation Proclamation, even though slavery still existed in many places after they were issued, and the 14th amendment guaranteed the civil rights of former slaves July 9, 1868.
