Presidential comparison Pres.- elect Obama and Abraham Lincoln.?
Has anybody noticed a comparison between Pres.- elect Obama
and Abraham Lincoln? Obama will be sworn in on the very same Holy Bible that Lincoln sworn in on.
That bible has not been used since Lincoln used it last.
Pres.- elect Obama will be taking the trip to Washington, D. C. by rail.
That’s all cool and nothing of importance. But, I hope Pres.- elect does
stay away from Ford’s Theatre. Lincoln was good at speaking so is
Pres.- elect Obama. I just can’t help notice the similarities of the two.
I just hope it’s merely coincidence.

Wait until you compare their records after he’s out of office.
Lincoln will have kicked his butt all over this country of ours multiple times.
It’s no REAL comparison.

Historical Allies: Barack Obama and Abraham Lincoln?
Abraham Lincoln had no experience with war and he is our Greatest President also from Illinois.
It is intellectual talent and strategy that counts. Obama has it, Clinton does not. How else would he be able to take away her lead in the poles and win 11 straight if he did not know how to win? And lets be serious. No president has made a decision in isolation. I don’t trust Hillary Clinton to run a good campaign, how is she going to run a country, no matter what General stands behind her? Is Colin Powell standing behind her?

Not really a question, though I too hope that Mr. Obama will make a fine President.

Barack Obama is going to make one of the best Presidents we have ever had in the US. He is honest, inspirational, is an incredible diplomat, and his only intent is to better the US, not just the pockets of the rich. His interest in the Presidency isn’t a “power trip” like Hillary.
God Speed Barack Obama!
I also want to know when the DNC is going to stifle Hitlery. The damage she is doing by pursing her power trip is hurting the Democrat’s chances in November. She is not wanted and polls prove she will NEVER beat McCain. So someone shut the b—- up!

About the only thing they have had in common, is that they are both Human Beings. Were not even sure about Obama, the courts still out on that one.
Came from Illinois! That’s all.
He never split a rail, never walked 5 miles to return 2 cents, never did any physical labor and hasn’t been shot in the head.
The greatness that Lincoln achieved through his simplicity might have prompted Obama to emulate him.
Lincoln made extraordinary efforts to attain knowledge while working on a farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois. He was a captain in the Black Hawk War, spent eight years in the Illinois legislature, and rode the circuit of courts for many years. His law partner said of him, “His ambition was a little engine that knew no rest.”
Think positively. Surprises sometimes come from the meanest.

Nothing
Became president.
He filled his cabinet with Republicans as well as Democrats. Pleeeez, do your own research!!!!
Obama has said that instead of hiring a bunch of “yes men” his cabinet will include people with various viewpoints who will sometimes disagree about important issues. He got the idea from “Team of Rivals” which is a recent book about how Lincoln did the same thing.
Appointing a “Team of Rivals”. His cabinet will consist of people who don’t necessarily agree with him on everything. He doesn’t want a bunch of “yes-men/women”.
It is folly to place these two men in the same sentence! BO is NO President Lincoln and never will be!
good question, there are many things to compare between the two,
and i do mean many, you pointed out several.
i think the most important similarity is both men have made or will
make history.
The only thing the same is they are both from Illinois. Hell they aren’t even from the same party Lincoln was a Repub.
Yes!! I noticed that too!!
For example: Honest Abe on one side – Dishonest babe on the other!
or let’s try this: humble Lincoln, proud Obama!
Freed the slaves – enslaves the free!
Humble & hardworking Abe, – Proud, present voting attention seeking mule!
Any changes Lincoln made? Hmm sure!
Any change with Obama? Yup! you’ll be lucky if you could hold on to your pocket change! People, save some ‘change’ to buy Kleenex! You’re going to need it! We’re all gonna cry after Bush!
Hmm, what else? – oh! he’ll be taking the rail to D.C. – wow! with enhanced security that is!
Are you gonna ride with him? I didn’t think so!
Similarities? Yeah! More like Lincoln’s evil twin, I tell you!
I could go on and on… but there’s too much History, I wouldn’t want to bore people out of their comfort zone…
President-Elect Obama is no Abraham Lincoln. And My God Give Me a BreaK It is all PROPS. If this is not merely for the media attention, then why even put it out there and why even bother?
I find it very ironic.
Lincoln may have freed the slaves but his intention was to repatriate the slaves to Africa.
Abraham Lincoln said: “I am not, nor ever have been in favour of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races … there is a physical difference … which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And in as much as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I … am in favour of having the superior position assigned to the white.”
looool. there is no comparison between lincoln, one of the greatest presidents, and obama, who is going to be the worst!
lincoln: frees the slaves
obama: enslaves us
No comparison. I just answered another question about Lincoln and Obama, but perhaps Obama doesn’t know that Lincoln really did not believe that whites and blacks are equal.
In Lincoln’s own words:
“I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races. I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people.”
Abraham Lincoln
“I will say here while upon this subject, that I have no purpose directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so. I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races. There is a physical difference between the two, which in my judgment will probably forever forbid their living together upon the footing of perfect equality, and inasmuch as it becomes a necessity that there must be a difference, I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong, having the superior position.” — Abraham Lincoln
Obama is also having the same menu as Lincoln had for his Inaguration dinner. BO is trying to convince us that he is like Lincoln. No way Jose.
And we all know what happened to Lincoln.
Also, Lincoln was a Republican.
Obama admires Lincoln and purposely chose that same Bible for the historical significance of it. He also purposely took the Philadelphia to D.C. trip because of Lincoln it retracts the train ride that Lincoln took.
Ridiculous comparison. Obama, his staff and the sheeple trying to sell the idea need to apologize to those of us who have studied Lincoln.
I agree with answer #1. Never compare Lincoln to Obama. It makes me sick
Abraham Lincoln is remembered for his vital role as the leader in preserving the Union during the Civil War and beginning the process (Emancipation Proclamation) that led to the end of slavery in the United States. He is also remembered for his character and leadership, his speeches and letters, and as a man of humble origins whose determination and perseverance led him to the nation’s highest office.
President Lincoln endured extraordinary pressures during the long Civil War. He carried on despite generals who weren’t ready to fight, assassination threats, bickering among his Cabinet members, huge loss of life on the battlefields, and opposition from groups such as the Copperheads. Yet Lincoln remained brave and persevered. He didn’t give in to the pressures and end the war early. He kept fighting until the South was defeated. A lesser man would have given in and stopped the war before the goals had been achieved. Lincoln did not do this.
The Emancipation Proclamation didn’t immediately free any slaves because it only applied to territories not under Lincoln’s control. The actual fact is that legal freedom for all slaves in the United States did not come until the final passage of the Thirteenth Amendment in December of 1865. Lincoln was a strong supporter of the amendment, but he was assassinated before its final enactment.
Obama has many terrorist ties and believes in marxism. I see no comparson.
You will note that all “similarities” are choices that obama made.
It’s a figment of his imagination to think he compares in any way with Lincoln. He just hopes you buy into the comparison……which it seems you have. Obama will be remembered as the great manipulator of the public mind…..nothing more.
Either you just don’t get it or your to proud to admit why President Obama is paying tribute to Abraham Lincoln. No way are they alike. But Lincoln freed the slaves and gave Black people a chance. This is why President Obama is giving Thanks to what Abraham Lincoln did.
Well they both made history
Lincoln would have allowed Barry on a train let alone rent 1
No similarities at all. Lincoln = no kool-aid. Obama = kool-aid.
Hopefully Obama won’t violate Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution like Lincoln did…
One is chocolate the other is vanilla. No similarities.
