For Presidents day: What if George Bush is our centuries Abraham Lincoln? Think about it! And read on….?
Lincoln, regarded as one of our most popular and beloved presidents was hated, and desired dead by the majority of his contemporaries.

Several attempts made on life resulting in success. The U.S. divided amongst itself to brother fighting brother. Yet Lincoln saw his duty as preservation of the Union at all costs! The discord and disagreement amongst offices in his cabinet left decisions of great magnitude to him with little insight other than his own beliefs.

A republican, he held radical views and furthered the gap between him and the political center. Sending young men to die fighting for a position they did not share nor held sacred. A population against the concept of war was defended as his platform. The election of 1860 had no favorites, as discord within the Democrats yielded the election to the Lincoln by a slim margin. This event, by some, is considered the element that erupted into the civil war.

With an open mind compare, do you see similarities? I welcomeyourview
As a somewhat educated person in both psychology as well as United States history, I think the correlation between the two is quite similar. I am not suggesting that Mr. Bush will have Abe’s appeal in a century or two, but you must admit it is an interesting concept! And by the way, in 1861 Lincoln was blamed for causing the south’s rebellion, and further in 1863 with the Emancipation Proclamation.
Don’t get me wrong, in my eyes Lincoln was a great man! I am a Reagan Republican!

Answer by aoldham3
nothin

Answer by NoMan
GWB didn’t start a civil war.

Answer by sparks_mex
Oh get outta here for suggesting

Answer by tlakkamond
Yes, I can completely see that by 2100 the earth will be filled of mutant survivors of the Nuclear War and they would worship Bush and The Bomb.

bushs approval rating is <30, why is Faux news comparing bush to Lincoln?
because they are idiots?

FRED BARNES: Well, in truth, as Senator Reid said, the president is not doing what his commanders on the ground have urged, mainly because their policy has failed. Baghdad is not secure. It’s the — it’s the center of great chaos and turmoil and violence in Iraq.

So he’s done what Abraham Lincoln did. When your commanders are not winning, you bring in new commanders. And after all, he is the commander in chief.

Answer by robert m
Lincoln was called honest Abe.

Answer by aladdinwa
Because they are desperately trying to prop up his poll numbers. Faux News is the Republican lap dog. They hitched their wagon to George Bush. If he goes down, they go down.

Answer by CleverGirl
I would imagine because Lincoln’s approval rating was pretty low during his presidency as well and alot of the nation thought the Civil War was stupid & pointless.

Answer by Paul H
Because Lincoln and George Bush’s policies are both shot? Just guessing…

Abraham Lincoln… Child Molester!?
I was in my highschool history class and my teacher said that there has been evidence uncovered in the past that honest Abe had children as slaves and molested them on a regular basis. This didnt seem right to me and I asked him about it and he said that it was because blacks werent people back then so it was okay.

Is this correct?

Answer by Mr. Curious
Yawn…..what is your “teacher’s” source and let me guess….your teacher is black.

Answer by bl
NO NO NO NO NO

REPORT THIS TEACHER!!!!! (What year are you in?)

This teacher needs to be a little more careful of what they say from the lectern. Don’t buy it, always ask for proof. Ask where this was written, publication, etc. Good for you for questioning.
Kipp it up!

Answer by karen v
I haven’t heard this, but what I have read about him he was a religious man and I dont think that he would do this.

Answer by ajtheactress
Pretty absurd since Lincoln’s anti slave views are well document.

So how long did it take you to come up with this little piece of “history?” I’m betting you had to use all three brain cells to do so.

Answer by alexa2829
I am a law student, and I recall doing a lot of research on different law schools. As the other users have already stated, there are no ABA law schools that have an on-line course of study. The only alternative some law schools offer is a part-time evening program. Remember that law schools stress and emphasize the Socratic method of teaching, so classroom time is essential. )

Answer by RoaringMice
Even if there were one (which, as others said, there is not) you’d probably have a heck of a time getting a job with a firm once you graduated. Reputation of your school can be pretty important in law.

The Dreams of Abraham Lincoln?
THE BEST MAN WIN POLICY
The white points of arguments are this,South Carolina primary definitely goes for Obama since its supported by black majority,so in his argument is that, what’s is wrong if Ohio do supported to Clinton as the they’re the majority white. He carry on to mention, when the the supports the white, the black said it’s purely base on racial line,But when the black support the black,it’s not racial as he said,My points here are they’re both wrong in either ways,(as we always heard the proverb(Two Wrongs,Doesn’t make One Right), by playing this dirty card tactics that divided us as a nation,as it looks like a bunch of plain sore loser attitudes by both parties particularly during this very Important Elections.

Why must we argue and belittle one another? We are all civilize USA citizens, can’t we all make Consensus rather a Confrontations on each other? I can understand the history beneath the root feelings of both parties,(Consensus)On the part of the white please do takes this opportunity so called the first black president’s candidate that’s most, brilliant, with fascinating intellectual mind,if you really cares to read either one of his published books.
A law graduate from our top-notch finest University our land can offer,Harvard Law’s School,he also happened to be Harvard’s first black President of it’s 104 years history and also Harvard’s Law first Politician.
He also has a very warm personality as a person, the brightest, even amongst our white in our nation,The best “Man Win” policy should be the major consideration in picking a President for Democratic Nation rather a color of his skin, Americans should understand their root of true aspirations and enthusiast lies with INTELLECTUAL ability instead rather going forward with SENTIMENTS feelings, we are becoming a country of MONARCHY approach as we heard everywhere people were saying with the same dilemma on this Candidate reflecting the Highest ever turnout at Primaries.

People were dogged with the past memory, with the thought of voting for Clinton because a win for Hillary would put her husband, the former president, back in the White House too: “Oh God,With Bill Clinton. All our Life’s was so good back with Clinton.”as acclaims, going forward with this assumptions actually USA going near to a bankrupt country for sure, we might as well consider bring back the spirit of Abraham Lincoln to Washington,Now we now living dangerous becoming a Country of Communism Socialize Union past,Only Bush/Clinton Have the the only RIGHT to be American President attitudes sooner or later we shall see a DYING UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We have been Living so close with Ideologies of the Father\Son\Husband\Wife\Daughter Monarchy of Bush/Clinton Dynasty.

This’d the True our American dreams that come ” Opportunity Once in the Century” Once in our lifetime, called an able black USA President among “Ourselves” even White, American have many opportunities before and long history of white Presidents since the days of Abraham Lincoln.

COLOR BLIND
Hillary was right to mentioned during the Texas rally ” America needs to BORROW MONEY even from his “FOE CHINA” just to buy Oil as payment to Saudi” “What happened to other American Allies?like UK,Japan, maybe they have exhausted too much already, Perharps the most closest America ally like Saudi may start to wary of America ability to pay, as old debt accumulates,.in asking the payment upfront from USA.
Now America have new reputations “World-Wide eyes as Nation of Debts!!!”Many his Allies now trying to avoid at any cost from America, they’re removing their fund from USA banks.During Bush /Clinton terms were cause of letting the” LOBBYIST” to dance with ideas with Sub-Prime Mortgage are their faster solutions as early in 2000, they can thinks of,Which I Views as problems”SWEEP UNDER THE CARPET” solutions by their Bush/Clinton administrations even they know very well where these situation lies and more lies ahead from them, which the people feels everywhere HAPPY with flush with easy mo
money lies, during their terms every american having happy attitudes settled them well,Bush/Clinton adopted this,to solve nation temporary problems what happen next is not under their terms now they’re trying again to do the remedy?too far too late, people realised how TRUE to be homeless now with forecloses and bankruptcies pettitions,Only now they start to realised the decisions made by so called Commander-In-Chief earlier .

Answer by KoolAid
Ah, yes, but remember one thing…..
It was Lincoln’s plan to free the slaves BUT the SHIP THEM ALL BACK TO AFRICA ON A ONE WAY BOAT. The only reason this plan was not carried out is because Lincoln was killed. People love to ionize Lincoln for freeing the slaves, but what people don’t like to talk about is that it was part of his plan to rid this country of blacks too. THIS IS JUST ALL PART OF FACTUAL HISTORY!

Answer by matthew33
Abraham Lincoln was racist and wanted to send all blacks to Africa.

Answer by cuzziman84
Yeah, yeah it’s all about race. Obama is not the school’s first politician and the whole monarchy arguement shows me you aren’t that bright, so I can forgive you for supporting a liar and idiot like Barack Obama.

Answer by joew_29
So do you have a question? Or is this just something you copy-pasted from some Pro-Obama website or blog?

If your trying to ask if I think Obama should be the next President because he’s black and “it’s a great opportunity”, then my answer is NO. Neither should Hillary based on the fact she’s a woman. Neither should McCain based on the fact he served our country and was a POW. It’s about who has the abilty to get the job done the most efficiently and intelligently. Personally, out of the three, I believe in John McCain is the most prepared. If he were a black man or a female, I would still feel the same.

Lincoln measured the promise–and cost–of American freedom in lucid and extraordinarily moving prose. Here in this two volume set (“Speeches and Writings 1859-1865″ and “Speeches and Writings 1832-1858″), are all the significant works, including the complete Lincoln-Douglas debates, dozens of speeches, hundreds of personal and political letters, communications to generals in the field, presidential messages and proclamations, poems, and private reflections on democracy, slavery, and the meaning of the Civil War’s immense suffering.

Please bring an historical figure to my party?
Would you attend my dinner party? Who will you be bringing and why?

The guest list includes:
Abraham Lincoln: his writings are amazing and all his own words (in the days before speech writers)
Einstein: Apparently a “regular guy” with real sense of humor, despite his brilliance.
Jesus: I’d really like to know what He thinks of the Bible.

Play nice, everyone!

Answer by 007
hm…………………… no i well not …

Answer by Rosalia
I want to bring Ibn Battuta to your party because he traveled a lot, and i want to travel a lot too

Answer by fletcher219
Ghandi oh, yes.

Answer by Doc
I’ll bring Eisenhower. Why? Because as a Republican President, he was responsible for the desegregation of our military and schools. He charged Congress with pushing forth Civil Rights Legislation (the Dem.s fought it tooth and nail (untill Sen.s JFK and LBJ rewrote it, rendering it useless)). Ike was not a professional politician and disliked very much (me voiding the word “hate”) his VP Dick Nixon. I’d just like him to see first hand what’s become of his America with the white picket fences and back yard B-B-Ques… Thanx for the invitation!

regarding Abraham Lincoln.?
have read several books on this president and my question is, “when he freed the slaves, do you believe he ever thought it was possible for the black man to be equal with a white man”
remember at this time a white woman was not equal to a white man. she could not vote and was totally dependent on her husband or father. his writings are clear, but only to a point and then you have to draw your own conclusions.

Answer by bookish
First of all, Lincoln did not free any slaves. The 13th Amendment did that, and it was passed after his death. The Emancipation Proclamation freed only the slaves in the Confederate states, and Lincoln did not have jurisdiction over them. He did not free the slaves in the border states, which he did control, for fear those states would leave the Union.
Lincoln abhorred slavery on a personal level, and he did become more of an abolitionist as the war went on, but he did not honestly believe that blacks were equal to whites, nor did he believe that blacks and whites could live harmoniously together. He was, in fact, in favor of colonization–sending freed slaves to Liberia. Frederick Douglass discussed this with Lincoln and told him that the slaves in the US knew no more about Africa than whites did–it was not where they had been born; America was their home. Douglass was at first frustrated with Lincoln and did not feel he was doing enough. He did later say that Lincoln grew and changed on this issue, but Douglass still felt Lincoln didn’t really “get it.”

Answer by pattyjo1999
The Gettysburg Address was classic propoganda, in the sense that the American Civil War had not been about the issue of slavery, did not free any slaves and was instead about keeping the US as one territory. The war continued into the Indian Removal era, the same issue of US empire being the driving force.

Most people know that Charles Darwin was the father of evolutionary biology. Darwin did not actually formulate his theory of evolution while sailing around the world aboard the Royal Navy Ship. Did you know that the HMS Beagle is remembered today because of its association with Charles Darwin?
Charles was an English naturalist. He established that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestry, and proposed the scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection. Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, the same date that Abraham Lincoln was born. Charles was born in Shrewsbury, England to Robert Darwin and Susannah Wedgwood Darwin, and died on 19 April 1882 by a heart attack. His father, Robert Darwin was a doctor in Shrewsbury. His grandfathers were Erasmus Darwin, who was an author, philosopher and scientist and Josiah Wedgwood the famous potter. Charles’s mother Susannah Darwin was the daughter of Josiah Wedgwood. In July 1817 when Charles was at the age of 8, his mother died after the sudden onset of violent of stomach pains. Emma Darwin was Charles cousins. Emma was born on May 2 1808 and died on October 7 1896. Charles and Emma were married on January 29 1839 and were parents of 10 children, three of whom died at early ages.
Charles was educated at Shrewsbury School and Edinburgh University where he read medicine. Darwin did not complete his studies at Edinburgh and went to Cambridge to read theology. While he was at Edinburgh, he developed an interest in natural history that was to continue during his time at Cambridge and for the rest of his life. In 1831, he obtained his degree from Cambridge and in the same year set out as a naturalist on a survey ship called the Beagle. The Beagle set sailed in 1826 to explore the coastline of South America. The survey trip of the HMS Beagle took Darwin from England, down the coast of Africa, across the Atlantic Ocean to South America, down the Eastern coast of South America, down around the Southern-most tip of South America and back up the Western coast of South America. They sailed across the Pacific Ocean to the Southern coast of Australia, across to the Southern tip of Africa, and then back up the African coast and back to England. Captain Robert Fitzroy returns the ship safely to England in 1830. Fitzroy wanted a scientific educated civilian to come aboard and he invited Darwin. The Beagle left England on December 27 1831. In 1933, Charles dug for bones and fossils. When the ship arrived on the Galapagos island on September 1835, Charles collected sample of mocking bards and noticed that the bird were different in each island, which lead him to think that the bird have common Ancestor . When the trip was over and the ship was returning back to England Darwin bought the birds and fossils with him and was asking scientist on how to organize the specimens.
Charles Darwin wrote some famous book such as On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection in 1859, The Descent of Man and Selection in Relation to Sex in 1871, The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animal in 1872, The power of Movement in Plants in 1880, and in 1887 he published Autobiography of Charles Darwin
From what I have tasted of desire, I strongly agree that Charles put inspiration on us and contributes to science. Charles Darwin is best known as the naturalist who came up with the theory of evolution, and up to this day Charles will forever more remain in our history.
OH FYI FOR ALL THOSE WHO SAY I COPY AND PASTE I DIDNT IT IN MY OWN WORD AND I NO THE CONCLUSION IS KINDA WEIRD SO AM GONNA CHANGE IT OK
ok so instead of from what i ahve taste of desire how about this
From what I have read and discovered I strongly agree that Charles put inspiration on us and contributes to science. Charles Darwin is best known as the naturalist who came up with the theory of evolution, and up to this day Charles will forever more remain in our history

Answer by Ike
It looks copied and pasted. However, the part about tasting desire is weird.

Answer by Charles Davis
i’m not sure why you tied “desire” and charles darwin together…

Are the 2009 pennies with special abraham lincoln designs on the back worth collecting?
i was just wondering if any of you think these pennies are going to get rare and worth more money in the future.

Answer by t-rexs
just like the state quarters

some like them and some don’t

Answer by esignup
why not? Collect them because it’ll give you pleasure. The 2009 penny is cool because it ( Lincoln Penny) came out in 1909, it’s over a hundred years old! Get an uncirculated version of both (2009)coins and put them away for safe keeping.

here’s link to the kind of coins you can collect now and find in your change now, best of all they have collector value

http://coins.about.com/od/uscoins/tp/errorvarieties.htm

Answer by Taiping
The mintage figures are quite high and I notice in the weekly coin magazines they are still being heavily advertised. That means dealers are stuck with a lot of rolls. It would not hurt to put away mint state, really well struck ones. Remember mint state coins can be found in rolls and even in change. One can find nice mint state coins in change, that have no wear or marks and are well struck. They only cents for 2009 that will ever have a demand, will be very high mint state grade ones.

is my essay good so far? is about the influence in America of Abraham Lincoln?
That is an amazing title to put on someone, a hero especially of this wonderful country. After many years of his death he is still considered a hero. We still see Lincoln here after many years of his death. His excellent presidency inspired to put his face on the five dollar bill and in the penny coin. Not all the presidents of the United States are in money but of course Abraham Lincoln is so influential that he is put on money. Not only do we see Lincoln on money, but he has even been inspired to be in movies. Like on National Treasure: Book of Secrets, which released on 2007. This movie is about discovering the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Americans consider Abraham Lincoln as an honest president. According to a survey in the game show Family Feud, their question for a survey they had was, ‘name one of the presidents’ people considered was honest?’ and Abraham Lincoln was the number one top answer. He was the most voted president of that survey. Lincoln’s actions and excellent leadership has influenced America so much that we even see him in game shows. He has influenced Americans mind so much that in a survey he is number one as the most honest presidents of the United States. Now in days it is really difficult for a president to get label as honest. Of course Lincoln has had much impact and influence that he is not only considered honest but also honest. The most influential presidents have their faces craved in Mount Rushmore, and Abraham Lincoln is one of the presidents that is craved in Mount Rushmore. According to an article, Collecting (Mount Rushmore souvenirs). This mountain is so influential to Americans that millions of people visit it. It is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota, but Americans who are influenced by this mountain come from all over the United States just to see Mount Rushmore, it has become a wonderful place were Americans come to have their vacations. If there were not influential presidents that had so much impact in America, there would not be a Mount Rushmore, and Americans would not have a wonderful place to come for vacation.

Answer by Forrest
You have put down his legacy, but you need to also talk about the great things he did for the United States. Like Gettysburg Adress which was his famous speech in the town of Gettysburg where the Union defeated the Confederate army in one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. He led his nation through one of its greatest crises the Civil War and issued the Amancipation Proclimation to end slavery. These are all deeds he is remembered for.

How did the Kansas Issue help Abraham Lincoln win the presidency in 1860?

Answer by summertime
you have a computer.why don’t you look it up and get an expert answer.

Answer by rare2findd
Abraham Lincoln was Black.

Despite a successful Kansas trip, Lincoln did not improve his standing that much in the territory and had to capture the Republican convention of 1860 without the support of the Kansas delegation. Today we sometimes forget that Lincoln was not universally loved by his own generation. Most Southerners despised him, many Northerners questioned his ability and judgment, and his position on racial issues certainly cannot be judged enlightened by early-twenty-first-century standards. Indeed, his thinking in this area was conservative even when compared to contemporaries such as Susan B. Anthony, John Brown, Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, and Charles Sumner. But he was well ahead of the vast majority of Americans, showed a great capacity for growth in this and other areas, and earned the laudatory epithet the “Great Emancipator” and reputation as one of America’s great presidents.

What are some positives and negatives about Abraham Lincoln’s presidency?

Answer by Rabbi Black of the Inlé Yeshiva
President Lincoln intended to deport all black people to Africa (all sources are published books, and the links are to ‘google books’ – but I’ve tinyed the ULRs)

“Ne g ro equality. Fudge! How long in the Government of a God great enough to make and maintain this Universe, shall there continue knaves to vend and fools to gulp, so low a piece of demagoguism as this?”

“Let us be brought to believe that it is morally right, and at the same time favorable to, or at least not against, our interest to transfer the African to his native clime, and we shall find a way to do it, however great the task may be.”

___________

The following are President Lincoln’s words at a repatriation ceremony in Washington, D.C. in 1862

“I have urged the colonization of the negroes, and I shall continue. My Emancipation Proclamation was linked with this plan. There is no room for two distinct races of white men in America, much less for two distinct races of whites and blacks.

http://tinyurl.com/2d9yytw

“I can conceive of no greater calamity than the assimilation of the negro into our social and political life as our equal…”

http://tinyurl.com/2eh5cmf

“Within twenty years we can peacefully colonize the negro and give him our language, literature, religion, and system of government under conditions in which he can rise to the full measure of manhood. This he can never do here. We can never attain the ideal union our fathers dreamed, with millions of an alien, inferior race among us, whose assimilation is neither possible nor desirable.

http://tinyurl.com/37ztjoj

“See our present condition — The country engaged in war! — our white men cutting one another’s throats . . .and then consider what we know to be the truth.”

http://tinyurl.com/2c2egpg

“But for your race among us there could not be war, although many men engaged on either side do not care for you one way or the other… It is better for us both therefore to be separated. . .”

http://tinyurl.com/2bo9vmk

“You and we are different races. We have between us a broader difference than exists between almost any other two races. Whether it is right or wrong I need not discuss, but this physical difference is a great disadvantage to us both, as I think your race suffer very greatly, many of them by living among us, while ours suffer from your presence. In a word we suffer on each side. If this be admitted, it affords a reason at least why we should be separated.”

Answer by stratobagster
Lincoln was a Republican in his day. But the Republican platform was 180 degrees different then as now. The support for Lincoln came mostly from the wealthy, very liberal north eastern US.

Lincoln’s entire presidency is consumed by the war, during which time he enacted some very diverse legislation. There was the Sedition Act that he used to institute Marshall law and control the war protests. Of course, he signed the Emancipation.

The war made US the world’s foremost manufacturing giant and the infrastructure created in the North to support it fueled it’s growth for generations. I think his lasting legacy is that he insisted no war crimes trials be carried out against former Confederate soldiers. He was fortunate the government didn’t take it out on the southern states, that would have been a disaster.

Would Abraham Lincoln be a liberal Democrat today?
I find it extremeley unlikely that Abe Lincoln would be a Republican in today’s day and age, but then again I could be wrong. He seems to be more of a George McGovern liberal type, or at the least a moderate Democrat.
In fact, I think most of the Republicans from the 1860s (especially the abolitionist and radical Republicans) would be liberals today.

What do you think?

Answer by Gabby
No, he wouldn’t be a liberal by any stretch of the imagination.

Answer by a bush family member
No. Remember, he suspended habeas corpus for the entire nation. Democrats today get really upset about President Bush suspending habeas corpus just on terrorists.

He would not like Democrats. Unlike Democrats, he put the security of his country ahead of politics.

Answer by vtjames7433
I love how people lie about what republicans are and believe. Abe would be a republican today because we believe the same things he believed in in 1860- sorry to disappoint.

Answer by jamie s
The parties switched over time and Lincoln probable would be considered a liberal in his time..

But things have changed.. A liberal back then would probably fall under conservative today.. And a conservative back then, probably doesn’t exist today.. Or would be a super far far far right super wackjob.. lol.

Therefore, I’d think he’d be a conservative republican today..

Countless books have been written about Abraham Lincoln, yet few historians and biographers have taken Lincoln seriously as a thinker or attempted to place him in the context of major intellectual traditions. In this refreshing, brilliantly argued portrait, Michael Lind examines the ideas and beliefs that guided Lincoln as a statesman and shaped the United States in its time of great crisis. In a century in which revolutions against monarchy and dictatorship in Europe and Latin America had failed, Lincoln believed that liberal democracy must be defended for the good of the world. During an age in which many argued that only whites were capable of republican government, Lincoln insisted on the universality of human rights and the potential for democracy everywhere. Yet he also held many of the prejudices of his time; his opposition to slavery was rooted in his allegiance to the ideals of the American Revolution, not support for racial equality. Challenging popular myths and capturing Lincoln’s strengths and flaws, Lind offers fascinating and revelatory insights that deepen our understanding of this great and complicated man.

Was Abraham Lincoln a republican or a democrat?
I remember learning once that Republicans and democrats essentially switched labels at some point in history between Lincoln’s presidency and now. Is that true? If so, when did it happen? Does that make all of those conservatives calling him a conservative to the defense of their party liars or misinformed?

Answer by D Rock
Republican

Answer by Ted Sheckler
He was 100% Republican.

But like you said, things have changed since then. Most notherners were against slavery period, and the emancipation proclamation was a political strategy to cripple the souths labour force and win the war, the war wasn’t about freeing slaves.

Look at it this way, if it was about making blacks equal to whites, why did they allow segregation after the war?

Answer by Sue Straka
Republican

Answer by Nate D
He was a Republican. The Republicans of his time were like today’s Democrats, while the Federalist were like today’s Republicans. I know it’s hard to believe when you think about the reputation of today’s republicans.

Antiwar protest has long been an under-reported component of the Civil War story. “Heaven Will Frown on Such a Cause as This” traces the life stories of six men in northern states who denounced the war against the Confederacy. These men were called “copperheads” by their opponents, but they labeled themselves “Peace Democrats.”

What was Abraham Lincoln todays Republican or todays Democrat?
What was Abraham Lincoln todays Republican or todays Democrat? I know he was a republican at his time, but are the view of the republican then the same as the views as a republican now, when was it that they switched directions of the way they though?

Answer by Maria
He was definitely today’s republican.

Answer by Susan
Neither, really. But I find it very humorous when Republicans “claim” him as if that somehow makes them more politically correct.

Answer by Carolyn M
He would be a Republican despite his emancipation proclolmation which he viewed as economically necessary.

Answer by Brianna v
There were pretty few differences between Republican and Democrats in the day I remember reading.

What segregated us is when all these moral issues became to come about — politics suddenly start to involve not only what laws should be passed and vetoed — but also moral and religion.

Now segregating us is gay marriage, the death penalty, and many other things.

I guess that doesn’t really answer your question, but honestly, I’m quite sick of America being separated in Democrats and Republicans and annoying, immature teens being like “DEMOCRATS CAN SUCK MY ***” or “REPUBLICANS ARE LOSERS”.

“There is not a liberal America and a conservative America – there is the United States of America. There is not a black America and a white America and latino America and asian America – there’s the United States of America.”
b.) Council of Governments.
c.) State Board of Education.
d.0 Texas Comptroller’s Regions.

Answer by The fourth musketeer
the first one is either A or D.

A would be the result of the downturn of southern farming, ultimately resulting in less internal production and more importation.

D could be for the New Deal programs which eventually led to our participation in WWII and the modern era of business.

I would personally go with A

And the second one is A i believe, but i would google that

Answer by Jim
1. C – Garfield was killed by a disgruntled office seeker who was denied a government job by the Garfield administration.
